FROM HEALED, TO SAVED, TO OFF THE STREETS

We met Tracey several years ago. When we first met her, she was very angry at God. She didn’t want prayer, and she made that clear. But after her mother passed away, her heart softened. Grief opened a door, and she allowed us to pray with her. We asked for God’s love to touch her and did our best to comfort her.

In one of those prayer moments, Jesus supernaturally healed her shoulder. It was the first time she experienced a supernatural touch of God. Over time, we continued to share the gospel and talk about the Kingdom of God. Slowly, she began to understand more. One day, in conversation, she said, “You know, the troubles of this life don’t come from God, it’s the result of sin from generations ago.” We knew then that the truth was breaking through and that she was beginning to overcome the lies that had gripped her heart for so long. But there was still something holding her back, unforgiveness. It caused deep pain in her life and stood as a barrier between her and God. Yet one day, something shifted.

On that special day, she shared that she had been thinking for a long time about giving her life to Jesus and that today was the day. She said she wanted to make Jesus the Lord and Savior of her life. She laid her unforgiveness at the feet of Jesus as she forgave those who had caused her so much pain. It was such a beautiful and life changing moment. Right before our eyes, we saw the many seeds planted begin to bear fruit. Fruit that can change eternity.

From that point on, we began times of discipleship. We read the Bible, prayed together, and encouraged her to take steps like applying for housing. Tracey admitted it took everything in her to even begin the process of getting on the housing list. But something had changed, she had hope. She started to believe that God has a plan, and she started to take steps.

This month, we met one of her friends on the street. We mentioned that we hadn’t seen Tracey in a while and asked if she knew where she was. Her friend smiled and said, “She’s off the streets. I saw her right before she left. She got an apartment in the Mira Mesa region, but when she came to say goodbye, she didn't have a phone yet.” For the first time in many years, Tracey now has a roof over her head.

Tracey is one of the many people we have had the honor of meeting in some of the darkest and lowest moments of their lives. It was in that place where Jesus found her and she received Him. Now, she is building a new life with Jesus by her side. Her story is a powerful reminder of how patient and kind our God is. He runs after hearts because He cares for each life. (June, 2025)
