A HEART SAVED BY JESUS & WALKS OF DISCIPLESHIP

We met a man named Alan. He was walking, and we asked if we could talk with him. He replied, “I’m walking, so not now.” We said, “That’s okay, we can walk with you.” He glanced at us, and to our joy, he didn’t say no.

As we walked beside him, we asked where he was going. He said, “Oh, nowhere in particular. I just walk until I get tired, then I’ll probably go to sleep… and then I walk some more.” We asked, “What about when you get hungry?” He said, “I’m not so hungry today, so I don’t need anything.”

While we were walking, before sharing the gospel, we talked about the story of the prodigal son. As we spoke, Alan stopped walking and turned to look at us. He listened intently as we moved from that parable to the story of Jesus, His life, death, and resurrection. We shared what faith and repentance really mean, and what a life with Jesus looks like. Alan said, “Yes, I want a life with Jesus.” As he prayed, it reminded us so much of the prodigal son we had just shared about, a lost son returning to the Father. Though this was Alan’s first time giving his life to Jesus, his story carried so many parallels to that parable: a heart turning to Him, asking to be forgiven and received by the Father. It was such a precious moment, watching him open his heart to Jesus and pray with sincerity and hunger.

After he made Jesus his Lord and Savior, we gave him a Bible and spent our first time of discipleship. Since then, we have seen him multiple times and have continued to grow in the faith together. It is so beautiful to watch how Alan is growing as a child of God. He was walking around lost but now he is walking with Jesus. (June, 2025)
