Statement of faith
WHAT WE BELIEVE
God
We believe there is one eternal, infinite, and personal God, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, justice, love, and mercy. God exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, co-equal and co-eternal, united in one divine essence.
(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
The Bible
We believe the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament are the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. They are the final and supreme authority for all faith and life, revealing God’s plan of salvation, His will for mankind, and the truth necessary for godly living.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)
Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity and humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross as a substitutionary atonement for the sins of humanity, was bodily resurrected on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate. He will return visibly and bodily in power and glory to judge the living and the dead and to establish His eternal kingdom.
(Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:14; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 7:25; Acts 1:9-11)
Salvation
We believe that all humans are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore separated from God and under His just judgment. Salvation is a free gift of God’s grace, received only through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone, apart from works. Through the Holy Spirit’s regenerating power, believers are justified, adopted into God’s family, and enabled to live a holy life.
(Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; John 3:16; Acts 2:38)
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, the third person of the Trinity, sent by the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, regenerate believers, indwell and empower the church, and guide believers into all truth. The Holy Spirit produces spiritual fruit in the believer’s life and equips the church for ministry. We affirm the present-day operation of the spiritual gifts as described in Scripture, exercised under biblical order and humility, but we reject any teaching that promotes extra-biblical revelation or authoritarian prophetic offices.
(John 16:7-14; Romans 8:9-11; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 4:11-13)
The Church
We believe the Church is the universal body of Christ, composed of all who have been born again by the Holy Spirit. The local church is a community of believers committed to worship, teaching, fellowship, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, evangelism, and discipleship. Christ alone is the Head of the Church. We reject any teachings that establish human leaders as modern apostles or prophets with authority equal to Scripture.
(Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:41-47; Ephesians 1:22-23; Colossians 1:18)
Baptism and the Lord’s Supper
We believe that water baptism by immersion is an outward testimony of the believer’s union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. We also practice the Lord’s Supper as a remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice and a celebration of the new covenant. Both ordinances are symbolic, to be observed by believers in obedience to Christ’s command.
(Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)
Christian Living and Sanctification
We believe that believers are called to live a life of holiness empowered by the Holy Spirit, obeying God’s moral laws as revealed in Scripture. Sanctification is a lifelong process, growing in grace and reflecting the character of Christ in love, humility, and service.
(Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Hebrews 12:14; Galatians 5:16-25)
Humanity and Marriage
We believe that God created humanity male and female in His image, with inherent dignity and purpose. Marriage is a sacred covenant ordained by God as a lifelong union between one genetic male and one genetic female. We affirm God’s design for human sexuality and reject any teaching contrary to Scripture regarding gender and marriage.
(Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:18-24; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:22-33)
The Return of Christ and Eternal Judgment
We believe in the visible, bodily, and personal return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. There will be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost with believers raised to eternal life and unbelievers to eternal separation from God. Heaven and hell are eternal realities.
(John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11-15)
Sanctity of Human Life
We affirm the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death and are committed to protecting the physical and spiritual well-being of all people.
(Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Exodus 20:13)
Evangelism and Discipleship
We believe that all believers are called to share the gospel and make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching them to obey Christ’s commands. This mission is the church’s highest priority.
(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:14-15)
